BOMA Boston Committees

Being a BOMA Boston committee member affords you with the opportunity to help shape our programs and events, build relationships and enhance your leadership skills. BOMA Boston has close to 200 committee members who help plan our 40+ events per year. To maximize the value of your membership, we encourage committee participation. Committee participation requires attendance at committee meetings and active participation as a representative of BOMA Boston. Please email Kayla Burmeister with your Committee preference(s). You will receive a confirmation and notification of the first committee meeting upon acceptance.

Charitable Giving Committee: This committee is responsible for planning the Annual Benefit held in the Spring, benefiting our Charitable Partner. The committee is also responsible for creating additional fundraising, visibility, and community service activities to benefit our beneficiary. Every 5 years, the committee will be responsible for participating in the selection process to help identify our new Charitable Partner. The committee meets monthly from November - April with an active assignment.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee: Created in 2021, the committee will facilitate programming and discussions for members that help foster awareness and best practices within diversity, equity and inclusion. The committee meets every other month with a medium assignment.

Emerging Professionals Committee: This committee plans and promotes programs to help shape and enhance the future of the industry by preparing the next generation of leaders. The committee is also responsible for planning a series of educations and social opportunities for Emerging Professionals and the general membership. The committee meets every other month with an active assignment. Committee Co-Chairs: Lauren Lanzillo, UG2 and Brenna Gomez, Biomed Realty

Energy and Environment Committee: Relaunched in 2022, this committee is responsible for being a resource to members by promoting environmentally sustainable building practices to help CRE buildings be more energy and resource efficient. The committee will discuss and review a host of local opportunities for collaboration including the City's Climate Change Action Plan and Zero Waste initiative to share with BOMA Members. 
The committee meets monthly with a medium assignment.

Engineering Committee: This committee provides engineers an opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices to maximize building operations. The committee is also responsible for planning tech tours and engineering seminars. Members of the committees are invited to assist in the judging for the Engineer Awards for the Annual TOBY & Industry Awards. 
The committee meets monthly with a medium assignment.

Membership Committee: This committee is responsible for the recruitment of new members and assisting with the promotion of member benefits to engage and retain existing members. This committee is also responsible for assisting with the annual dues renewal process and participating in an annual call-a-thon. Twice a year the committee hosts a new member event.
The committee meets monthly from December - March and then every other month for the remainder of the year with an active assignment.

Preparedness Committee: This committee is responsible for serving as a resource to the industry by providing information on emergency preparedness and building security. In addition, the committee plans the September programming for Preparedness Month. 
The committee meets every other month with a low assignment.

Programs & Education Committee: This committee is responsible for planning educational webinars and in-person roundtables. The committee is also responsible for assisting in the marketing of all educational offerings including BOMI designation programs. 
The committee meets monthly with an active assignment.

Special Events Committee: This committee is responsible for planning and promoting major networking events including the Annual Golf Tournament, Fishing Tournament, Springfest, and Fallfest. The committee also assists with recruitment of sponsors and raffle prizes.
The committee meets quarterly with an active assignment.

TOBY & Industry Awards Committee: This committee is responsible for identifying and encouraging buildings to compete in the TOBY Awards and apply for the BOMA 360 Designation Program. The committee also oversees the call for entries and overall judging process.
The committee meets monthly from February - June and then as needed with a medium assignment.

TOBY & Industry Awards Judging: (not a committee) This short term, active assignment is for TOBY & Industry Awards judging only from September - October. A request for judges will be sent to the BOMA membership in June.
