Committee & Work Group Descriptions
Awards Selection: Reviews and selects recipients for
annual member recognition awards:
REALTOR® of The Year, Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award, REALTOR® Spirit Award, Good Neighbor Award, Affiliate of the Year Award, Rising Star Award.
Broker Network: Advisory in nature, this group provides feedback and insights from managing brokers on GBAR initiatives, programs, and industry issues.
Charitable Grants Action Group: Administers GBAR’s charitable grant programs by reviewing applications, selecting recipients, and promoting REALTOR® community impact.
DEI Scholarship Action Group: Administers GBAR’s DEI scholarship program by reviewing applications and selecting recipients.
Fair Housing & Bias Education Action Group: Purpose: Advances fair housing awareness and education and to help members recognize and address implicit bias in real estate.
Forms: Reviews content and design of standard forms and contracts in the GBREB Forms Library and considers revisions in language and layout to existing forms, as well as development of new forms and addendums to address new laws and regulation or changes in industry practice as warranted. Committee and subcommittees meet multiple times throughout the year.
Global & Multicultural Council: Works to expand member awareness of global and multicultural real estate opportunities, while strengthening diversity in GBAR membership and leadership.
Government Affairs (GBREB): Promotes government affairs activities, which include public policy advocacy, and political activism on real estate industry-related issues. A limited number of seats are available for GBAR members on the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB) Government Affairs Committees.
Grievance: Reviews and considers all ethics complaints and arbitration requests for official professional standards hearings. To participate on this committee members must first complete a full-day professional standards training program. Typically meets via the Zoom online platform.
Nominating: Reviews and certifies applicants and recommends candidates for all elected leadership positions for the association, including GBAR officers and directors, at-large directors to the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, and seats on the Massachusetts and National Associations of REALTORS® Boards of Directors.
Professional Standards: Impanels ethics and arbitration hearings to provide fair, ethical, and consistent decisions in transactional matters. Also implements and assesses performance of the mediation and ombudsmen programs to promote timely processing of cases. To serve on the committee, members must complete a full-day professional standards training program.
REALTOR® Party Action Group: Plans and implements RPAC fundraising efforts that support REALTOR® advocacy priorities and advance the REALTOR® advocacy agenda through grassroots engagement, government relations, and REALTOR® political involvement.
Road Show Action Group: Supports GBAR staff in planning and executing the annual Road Show Conference & Expo. (This group will help to plan the 2027 Road Show.)
Sustainability Action Group: Works to promote sustainability, resiliency, and green business practices among GBAR member.
Volunteer Service & Projects Action Group: Plans and executes GBAR’s housing-related volunteer initiatives, showcasing REALTORS® as good neighbors.
Young Professionals Network (YPN): Works to engage, connect, and develop GBAR’s newer and younger REALTORS® through networking, education, and leadership opportunities.
