Despite the setback with the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the commercial real estate market is looking positive for 2022. Learn about this year’s market trends, opportunities and challenges that CRE professionals and owners face as we welcome back tenants and look forward to attracting new ones. Our moderator, Shawn Carroll, RPADirector, Property Management, CBRE, will help us navigate through the vital information we will hear from Liz Berthelette, Director of Research, Newmark, Ashley Dunn, AIA, Associate Principal & Director of Workplace, Dyer Brown, and Tim Martin, Managing Director of Property Management & National Lead of Life Science Property Management, JLL.

Shawn W. Carroll, RPADirector, Property Management, CBRE
Shawn served as BOMA Boston President in 2020.  Shawn has been at CBRE, Inc. since 1999.  In his current role, Shawn serves as a Director overseeing a portfolio of over 5M RSF in client assets primarily in the Seaport District as well as other assets throughout Massachusetts.  In this position, Shawn oversees all leasing activity, financial reporting requirements, building and property operations, and has a staff of over 50 property management professionals.  He has managed the Fan Pier Development since 2011, including the sale of those assets following initial lease up.  Shawn began his real estate career in 1999 as a Payroll Specialist and Human Resource Director prior to moving into Property Management in 2003.  Shawn is a Veteran of the United Stated Navy.

Elizabeth Berthelette, Director of Research, Newmark
Liz is a seasoned commercial real estate researcher and economist with 16 years of experience providing insights on the Greater Boston market and beyond. In addition to producing reliable data and market analyses as Research Director for Newmark’s Boston office, Liz authors the firm’s quarterly market reports as well as white papers, blog posts and guest columns on relevant trends and happenings in the commercial real estate universe. She is an experienced presenter who is often quoted by local, regional and national publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Boston Business Journal and NPR. Prior to joining Newmark, Liz spent several years leading the research departments of other local brokerage firms such as Colliers and Hunneman, beginning her career as a Real Estate Economist with PPR/CoStar. 

Ashley Dunn, AIA, Associate Principal & Director of Workplace, Dyer Brown & Associates
Ashley Dunn is Associate Principal and Director of Workplace for Dyer Brown, working on both client projects and marketing initiatives. A licensed architect with extensive expertise in corporate workplace strategy, she has completed projects ranging in scale from 4,000 to 400,000 square feet for multiple Fortune 100 & 500 companies. A frequent speaker at professional and industry events, Dunn’s writing has been published in Fast Company and WorkDesign magazines. She taught at the Boston Architectural College as an adjunct faculty member for three years and is on the Board of Directors for Design Museum Boston. Dunn is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree. 

Tim Martin, Managing Director of Property Management & National Lead of Life Science Property Management, JLL
Tim leads the firm’s national life science property management platform, advising clients in this niche asset class.  His work focuses on delivering innovative and consistent management solutions, leveraging his in-depth knowledge of life science operations, investors, and tenants. Prior to his current role, Tim served as JLL’s Group Manager for MIT Investment Management Company’s portfolio in East Cambridge, MA.  In this position, he led a complex portfolio of life science, development, commercial office, residential, and retail product types and partnered with a team of over 30 property management professionals.  He has managed life science assets for nearly twenty years, including BioMed Realty Trust’s Center for Life Science | Boston.  Tim began his management career as a Tenant Coordinator with JLL/Spaulding & Slye in Boston’s Financial District.
