BOMA Tech Tour: Cannistraro Fabrication Facility at Black Falcon Pier

Manufacturing Facility FID Kennedy, 25 FID Kennedy Ave, Boston
“The Fid” as its called which stands for (F)abrication, (I)ndustry,
(D)esign is a 160,000 sqft manufacturing facility, which is
equivalent to 4 acres. The building was originally built for the U.S
Navy as a metal fabrication shop and ship repair facility in 1941
to support the efforts of WWII. A complete renovation of the
facility was finished in June of 2018.
The facility is broken up into 4 mechanical trade sections:
HVAC Pipe Fabrication
HVAC Sheetmetal Fabrication
Fire Protection Fabrication
Plumbing Fabrication
There is 5 Local Unions under 1 Roof 12, 17, 25, 537 & 550
The tour will give insight on day to day operations, single-trade,
multi-trade and modular build. We will discuss how we use
software to send fabrication stock lists from our offsite
Designers/Engineers directly to some state of the art equipment
to begin pre-fab and much more.
