The REFA Emerging Leaders Breakfast Series provides members with the opportunity to meet with industry leaders in an intimate-closed door setting. Shawn Hurley will provide an overview about the industry, his career track and provide practical advice on how to succeed in the industry. His presentation will be followed by an interactive Q&A session. Shawn Hurley, Executive Vice President, Skanska USA Commercial Development
Shawn oversees the Boston office for Skanska USA Commercial Development. During his tenure at Skanska, Shawn has negotiated the acquisition of more than 1.5 million square feet of development rights. Projects include 150 Second in Cambridge, 1350 Boylston in Boston, and three contiguous city blocks at Seaport Square consisting of Watermark Seaport, 101 Seaport and 121 Seaport. In late 2013 Shawn led the successful divestment of 150 Second, a 123,000 square foot, LEED Platinum speculative office and laboratory building.
His industry experience includes the development and acquisition of large-scale office, multifamily and mixed-use projects across the country. Prior to joining Skanska in 2010, Shawn was Regional Partner at Urban Residential, LLC where he oversaw the residential and mixed-use development activities of the Boston and Philadelphia offices. Previously, he was a Project Manager at Hines in Los Angeles where he led the development of the Lantana Media Campus in Santa Monica, comprised of 534,000 square feet of office and studio production buildings, and worked on several acquisitions including 601 South Figueroa in Downtown Los Angeles, a one million square foot office tower.
Shawn received a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from MIT and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. He sits on the Board of Directors of NAIOP and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
