Delay to Boston Energy
On Monday, April 28th
at 9:00 a.m. the
Boston City Councilís Committee on Government Operations
will be holding a public hearing on delaying the new
energy mandate in Boston. The public hearing
will be held this MONDAY, April 28th, 9:00
a.m. at Boston City Hall, Ianella Chamber, 5th
floor. Members of the public are
welcome to attend.
In 2013 the City of Boston
a new mandatee requiring
owners with buildings over 35,000 gross square feet to
report and publicly disclose energy and water use. The
law is being phased in over three years starting this
Major unresolved issues have
led to delays in implementation in other cities.
Seattle has revised its originally planned program and
has twice postponed the date by which reporting is to
occur for residential buildings. Washington
DC has had several years of delays and only recently
issued rules nearly five years after
the law was enacted.
GBREB supports delaying the
implementation of the new law in Boston which captures
all residential and commercial buildings with 35 units
or over 35,000 sq. feet.
