A Record Turnout for REALTOR® Day on the Hill
On June 5, 70 GBAR Members met with 12 Legislators from Greater Boston over lunch during REALTOR® Day on the Hill activities to discuss the topics that matter the most to the real estate industry. Earlier in the day, the Massachusetts State House’s Great Hall of Flags was packed with over 300 REALTORS® from across the state, and Attorney General Martha Coakley gave a moving speech regarding the housing industry. The annual event has gained momentum in the past few years, really proving that REALTORS® are working hard to protect the American Dream of homeownership.
AG Coakley specifically spoke about her office’s efforts to prevent foreclosure and help homeowners seeking to keep their homes obtain loan modifications and other forms of aid. She also praised the state's new loan modification law, passed last fall, which requires lenders to see if a loan modification is financially feasible before beginning the foreclosure process in reducing foreclosures.
