A Busy August for Home and Condo Sales
August 2012 was the fifth busiest on record for both detached single-family home sales and sales of condominiums in Greater Boston, and the most active August in eight years for single-family home sales. Not since the record high of 2004 when 1,381 homes has there been a busier August, with 1,305 closed sales. Sales of detached single-family homes have now risen on an annual basis for 14 consecutive months, however there was a slight decline in the monthly median selling price.
The condo market is also doing well, with the most active August (1,190) since 2007’s all time monthly high of 1,391 condos sold. Sales of condominiums have increased on an annual basis for 13 of the past 14 months, and the monthly median selling price increased for a seventh consecutive month.
