The recent destruction that Hurricane Sandy caused in New York and New Jersey is unimaginable. As REALTORS®, we understand first hand what it means to be a homeowner, and realize the incredible losses that so many are facing. I am proud to announce to you that GBAR has donated $10,000 to the National Association of REALTORS® Relief Foundation to support association members and other property owners who suffered damage or the loss of a home, business, or other personal property caused by this storm. Funds from this donation come from the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB) Foundation, which is supported, in part, by voluntary contributions made by GBAR members during the annual dues billing process. The donation will be disseminated via state REALTOR® associations in the affected areas, and 100% of the monies donated to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation will go to the victims of this disaster. This devastating storm serves as a reminder that no one is safe from natural disasters, and you hope that if it happens to you that your neighbors are prepared to help. I commend each and every one of you that have donated to the GBREB Foundation and helped GBAR offer this important assistance.
