On April 5, members of the GBAR Community Service Committee, led by Chairperson Mary Crane and Vice Chair Rick Otero, met to review 21 grant applications submitted by GBAR members requesting assistance from the GBREB Foundation. As there are many worthy organizations that need financial assistance, the committee selected 10 local, non-profit housing and homeless assistance organizations that would most benefit from receiving a grant. The organizations are: Somerville Homeless Coalition, Somerville, Rebuilding Together Boston, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, Lynn, Heading Home, Inc., Cambridge, “Our Place” Center for Homeless Children, Cambridge, Community Action Agency of Somerville, Inc., Somerville, A Place to Turn, Natick, Victory Programs, Inc., Boston, Family Reach Foundation, Boston, and the Massachusetts Housing Shelter and Alliance (MHSA), Boston. Each organization receives a grant for $2,500 and each will be honored at the 2012 GBAR Awards Dinner in June. Please remember that when you pay your REALTOR® dues you have the option to voluntarily donate to the GBREB Foundation. We sincerely appreciate each and every donation, as it allows us to continue our charitable efforts and give back to the communities we serve.
