Mass. December Homes Sales Flat
The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported that after five straight months of year-over-year increases in sales of detached single family homes, sales were essentially flat in December, down less than half of one percent from December 2010., while condo sales declined 3.1 percent compared to December 2010. The median selling price for homes was down 4 percent as compared to the same time last year to $271,900, while up for condominiums by 3.8 percent to $259,000.
The numbers for single family homes in GBAR’s jurisdiction were slightly up in December 2011 as compared to the same time last year, with a 1.4 percent increase, while condo sales declined 3.4 percent. The median selling price for homes was up 2 percent as compared to the same time last year to $447,500, while down for condominiums by 3.0 percent to $344,500.
