The Greater Boston Association of REALTORS ® (GBAR) represents over 5,000 real estate professionals throughout the Greater Boston and Eastern Massachusetts area and is one of the local boards of the National Association of REALTORS the largest trade association in America.

As a part of the GBAR new member requirements, you must complete the New Member Orientation Program to be accepted as a full REALTOR® member. The upcoming orientation is Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Mass. Mortgage Bankers Association Learning Center, Burlington . Click here for more info and to sign up for future orientations. No walk-ins, must be registered to attend.

More than 200 people joined GBAR at its Summer Soiree last week at the Boston Harbor Hotel complete with a New Orleans theme. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2008 award recipients: REALTOR® Emeritus, the first-ever Good Neighbor Award, the Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award and the REALTOR® of the Year Award. Daniel Derito of Keller Williams Realty in South Easton was presented with GBAR’s first-ever Good Neighbor Award, Judy Moore of Landmark Realty in Lexington received the Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award and the Greater Boston REALTOR® of the Year Award went to Mel Martocchia of Martocchia, REALTORS® in Waltham. For more details click here.

Are you a born leader? Would you like to play a more active role in setting the direction of the REALTOR® organization on the local or state level? Do you believe in giving back to the profession you belong to? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, we invite you to submit a nomination to become an officer or director of the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® (GBAR) or director from GBAR to the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR).
The nomination process for individuals wishing to be considered as a candidate for a leadership position at GBAR or as a MAR state director, is currently open, with applications due by July 15th.
