GROUNDWATER IN BOSTON
What does it mean for you and your clients?

Date:               Tuesday February 28, 2012
Time:               9:00 am – 10:00 am
Location:         Greater Boston Real Estate Board, One Center Plaza, Mezzanine Suite, Boston, MA

The City of Boston adopted a Groundwater Conservation Overlay District (GCOD) in sections of the City to protect wood pile foundations of buildings from being damaged by lowered groundwater levels.   The neighborhoods impacted include Fenway, Back Bay, South End, Bay Village, Leather District, Chinatown, the flats of Beacon Hill, Bulfinch Triangle, the Fort Point Channel in South Boston, North End and Downtown waterfront.

Because of its made land and many old buildings, Boston will always be vulnerable to groundwater related problems. For homeowners, the result is often cost and disruption of groundwater related foundation repairs. Learn what is being done to fix the leaks, install recharge systems and monitor for new problems from Elliot Laffer, Executive Director of the Boston Groundwater Trust http://www.bostongroundwater.org .

Registration is free, but space is limited.
