FMA - Facilities Management Administrator

BOMI International’s FMA designation program enhances your career by making you a more effective, knowledgeable facilities professional, thus positioning you as a key strategic professional within your organization. This program teaches you to manage facilities in a way that best supports staff and fits into the organization’s overall objectives. You’ll develop valuable skills in strategic planning, project management, corporate finance, capital investment, and physical asset management. You’ll also learn about new facilities technologies, environmental health and worker safety, and other timely issues. Whether you’re a new or experienced facilities manager, or someone in a related profession who will benefit from knowing how to create a quality work environment that maximizes productivity, the FMA program is right for you.

FMA Course Requirements:
To earn a BOMI FMA designation, you must complete six mandatory courses:

  • The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I
  • The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part II-
    Design Operations Part I is not a prerequisite for Design Operations Part II
  • Facilities Planning and Project Management
  • Environmental Health and Safety Issues
  • Ethics is Good Business ShortCourse®
  • Fundamentals of Facilities Management

You must also complete two elective course from the following options

  • Asset Management
  • Managing the Organization
  • Real Estate Investment and Finance

You do not have to take the courses in any specific order; however, if you are new to BOMI’s curriculum, we recommend you begin with subject matter you are already familiar with and save new material for later study. FMA Code of Ethics:
In addition to requiring Ethics Is Good Business® the Institute has developed a Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct to increase the esteem of the designation and to promote honesty as an integral part of an FMA’s reputation. As part of your certification, you will be asked to abide by this code.

Obtain Competency Credit
Sometimes, experience is the best teacher. And at BOMI International, what you’ve learned on the job or at other educational institutions may earn you additional credits, putting you that much closer to receiving a professional designation.Students enrolled in the RPA, FMA, or SMA designation programs are eligible to apply for competency credits through two methods: Administrative Competency and Competency by Review. Unless otherwise noted, students may receive Competency credit for a maximum of three courses in the RPA and FMA programs, two courses in the SMT program, and for one SMA course.
