BOSTON BROKER EARNS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
(Boston, Ma) -- Robert Shortsleeve’s 20 years of service to the Greater Boston Association of Realtors® (GBAR) has earned him the 2009 Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award. Shortsleeve is a regional vice president with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Waltham.
Established in 2006, the Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to one local Realtor® for his or her lengthy and dedicated service to GBAR and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB). Recipients must hold membership in GBAR for a minimum of 15 years and are recognized as prominent and effective leaders within the Realtor® association, real estate industry and their local community.
“Once I got over the surprise, I realized what an honor this was,” said Shortsleeve. “When I first joined the Board in 1989, Andy Hickey was still the Executive Director of GBREB; in fact, I have his signature on my original membership certificate from that year! He was a great guy, and the type of business leader we need more of today in Boston. I was truly moved and flattered that my peers thought that much of me to present me this award in his honor.”
Shortsleeve is a member of the GBREB’s Executive Leadership team and currently serves on the GBREB Board of Directors, a position he’s held for four years. He chairs GBREB’s Government Affairs Committee – a position he’s held for two years, while also serving as Assistant Treasurer for the GBREB.
In 2007 Shortsleeve chaired GBREB’s Finance Committee. He served on GBAR’s Board of Directors from 2002-2005 as well as on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) from 2006 to 2007.
Shortsleeve is also active in the community. He currently serves as the chair of the City of Boston Zoning Board of Appeals. In the past he’s served as the president of the Jamaica Plain Business and Professional Association and chaired the Boston Chamber of Neighborhood Commerce.
“Bob has an unwavering commitment and dedication to the Realtor® profession, the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, and the city of Boston,” said GBREB CEO Greg Vasil. “He is most deserving of the Hickey Award.”
The Greater Boston Association of Realtors® is a private trade association with more than 5,500 Realtor® members who specialize in residential real estate in Eastern Massachusetts. GBAR is the largest of five divisions of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB).
