After a highly successful and rewarding 2011 community service day benefiting local charity Heading Home, the REFA Emerging Leaders are hosting their third “Up & Out” move on Saturday, October 27, 2012. Once again, we need your help as a donor or volunteer (or both!), so please read on to see how you can help this wonderful and worth project come to life.
What is an “Up & Out” Move?
The Heading Home “Up & Out” Move is similar to “Extreme Home Makeover” – where volunteers and donors will provide a clean, fully furnished and fully stocked home for a family from one of Heading Homes’ Shelters. Emerging Leader Committee members will volunteer their time on Saturday, October 27th to clean the house, assemble and arrange furniture and stock the kitchen to help welcome the family in to their new home. We are currently seeking donations of gently used furniture and household items and monetary donations. Please help us in making dream come true for a family in need.

What Can I Do to Help?
REFA must raise enough money to cover the cost of household items and moving expenses—about $4000, or less, depending on the number of items donated.
Here’s what you can do to help us reach our goal:
- Ask your company to make a Corporate Donation or become an Event Sponsor.
- Make a Personal Donation and ask your company if they will match it. Click here for the donation and sponsor form
- Donate furniture and other household items on this list. Call 617-399-7863 for drop off details.
- Volunteer the day of the move. RSVP to Tylor Tourville
- All of the above!
What Do Volunteers Do?
REFA needs 10-15 volunteers to perform the move. Volunteers clean the new housing, unload furniture, purchase and deliver additional items, organize the house and finally, welcome the family to their new home. Want to be a day-of volunteer? Click here to RSVP
